Installation of one sliding door (two panels) and three windows in condominium apartment. The existing sliding door was design to open both ways but according with natural interior circulation the right to left sliding door was the safest in case of an emergency. The salesman order erroneously the sliding door to open from left to right (XO configuration and is mentioned in the permit submitted to the City of Plantation) and maintaining fixed the right panel. Salesman submitted a wrong ground floor elevation and door configuration to the City of Plantation, Building Department. The complaint was made before the second payment and the salesman promised to repair the mistake in a short time. The second payment was done last January 26, 2021 with the salesman verbal and written compromise to solve the problem as soon as possible. With several and not believably excuses I wait two months and retained the last payment until March 24, 2021 but the salesman with foul language and threaten me to use the Contract Agreement Contract, I proceed to cancel the final payment with the acknowledgment that the product was not under my satisfaction After two month I have not received any answer from the salesman even though I send every Thursday a text message to inform that I am available at any time including weekends. All communications, sms, e-mails, building permit, and proof of payments are under my custody to proceed with a Formal Complaint to the State of Florida. Resolution Sought Company must change the sliding opening door to reduce the unsafe condition and replace the screen sliding door under Home Shield USA LLC cost due to the salesman mistake.

Company Response

Mr. Forero contracted the installation of 3 impact windows and 1 sliding glass door with my company on October 25, 2020. The work of installing 3 impact windows and 1 sliding glass door on Mr. Forero property was done properly and in accordance with Florida and County Code requirements. Consequently, the installation and inspections were passed by City of Plantation on 2/12/2021, see attached copy. Mr. Forero then requested the direction of the sliding door be reversed, which required additional materials and labor. Mr. Forero was presented with a proposal that was rejected by him with the argument that it should be at no cost to him.

The truth is self-explained in my summary information and any other reason that does not clarify the problem is a wasting time effort. I confirm that my complaint was made the same day sliding door was installed and before the second payment. Vendor promised to repair the mistake in a short time after the inspection. Vendor came twice to solve the problem with a Lawson technician, they dismantle part of the jamb weather stripping, try to remove the panels, damage the screen frame, and did not solve the handle set lock because does not close properly. They left spare part planning to come other day that never happened. The last and final note that I send to the vendor was to split the expenses and I never received any answer. I am proceeding to request an assessment to the Fire department of Broward County because the actual situation is a very unsafe condition considering that the code egress to the patio is blocked due to a fix panel (find attached self-explain situation). The worst scenario with a fire in the kitchen area is to evacuate opening the right sliding panel but is impossible because is fixed.
