Before covid 2018 I leased a highlander. My payments each month was 699 . My credit was 740 something and I had in the past paid off another car that was preowned with the same dealership which was a trade. I found out later from others they paid less. Half of what I paid both times. We both had good credit both live in Essex county. Only difference is they are Italian and I am black. We both had parking off the street. Do I have a case is my question. Resolution Sought I hope to get some of my money back plus I didnt hardly drive the highlander for a year but maintained my $699 payment in 2020-2021

Updated Response: Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to investigate and address the customer's complaint regarding concerns she raised to your organization regarding the lease of her 2018 Toyota Highlander on or about August 31, 2018. The complaint that she filed with your organization is the first we have heard of her concerns. We have a very diverse staff and an equally diverse clientele. As you are likely aware, different purchases/leases have different lending requirements. None of which are controlled by the dealership. We provide the vehicle, the lender approves the financing. It is up to the individual to select any additional features or add-ons. These features may increase the overall price of the vehicle. Had the customer declined some of the features she selected, perhaps her lease term would have been more comparable to others of whom she has spoken. Had she raised her concerns to us when she first purchased her vehicle and not four years later, we would be in a better position to cancel some of the features she has now enjoyed for four years. Upon our receipt of your correspondence, we attempted to reach out to the customer. Unfortunately, we have not been able to connect with the customer, nor has she returned any of our messages. Also, if this was a leased vehicle, it is likely that she is no longer in possession of the vehicle and her obligation under the lease has been extinguished. As this matter was not addressed timely, our ability to assist has been dimished as well. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us.
