With the help of Judy from Janovic Painting and Decorating's upper West Side store in Manhattan I ordered 3 Hunter-Douglas Top-down, Bottom-up Duette Honeycomb Shades with the UltaGlide lifting system for our living room in Feb. Of 2018. Judy sent David, who she said was her best installer, to measure for the blinds. When they arrived, David came to install them. He asked if I wanted them installed close to the window frames or flush with the wall, which is about 5 ¾ inches from the window frame. Given the choice, since I wanted the shades to provide as much insulation as possible, I chose the former, which turns out to have been a major mistake. I have had continued problems with two of the three blinds, the two whose right-hand side butts up against the wall on the right side. The top-down mechanism requires that you pull the control wand to the right to stop the lowering of the shade, but the wall prevents this from being done properly. So the only functional shade is the one whose right side does not butt against the wall. I've had a couple of visits from David to "fix" the blinds, but the two are still not functional. I asked Judy about the possibility of having the blinds moved to be flush with the wall surface, but she says that Janovik is not willing to do that. Hunter-Douglass will only offer a 30 discount on new blinds. So, when Spring comes I will be ordering new blinds, not made by Hunter-Douglas. Resolution Sought Repair and re-install the blinds or replace with ones that work.
