I took my 2009 Honda civic lx to J and B Auto service for what I thought was a simple break and rotors replacement and repair but when I received my vehicle back, there was a putrid smell when I would stop the car. When I called back they told me initially it was just "dirt and grim" and to just "drive it off". Yet the smell came back after a few days, but worse than before. When I called back this time they instantly recommended I purchase a new caliper at "a few hundred dollars". Feeling hesitant I reached out to another mechanic who instantly saw multiple issues with the recommendation for a new caliper. Issues including; seeing that the vehicle was never topped off on break fluid, the breaks needed to be bled, as well as air in the break lines. I was in total charged $326.12 for new break pads and rotors as well as hardware, yet the hardware was never replaced and I was charged $95 for new hardware, upon further examination the vehicle was also not greased on hardware or slider pins. Resolution Sought Simply I would just like my money back at the very least and would like to have my voice heard on why people may want to reconsider coming to this mechanic.
