Customer Complaint

12/20/2021

Jensen Exteriors, LLC (Contractor's License #22035) provided a bid to complete a new roof on my home on September 20, 2021. The estimator emphasized that payment would not be required until customer was satisfied with the work and any leaks found due to workmanship would be warrantied for 10 years. Throughout the course of their work, workers were careless, damaged areas of my home, including my garage door and a metal roof structure in my breezeway. Repeated complaints in writing through email and letters to the owner were ignored or treated as annoyances that he deemed irrelevant. When he did show up, he was sullen and accepted no responsibility for any damages. Workers left significant debris, which I cleaned up. I withheld half of what I owe them, as I am still left with leaks in my breezeway due to damage/dents they did to my metal roof while attempting to install drip edge after the fact. , I've been unable to obtain an estimate for repair calling at least a dozen contractors. My garage door was also dented during demolition. In addition, I spent 8 hours cleaning up debris. They have now increased what I owe by revoking a senior discount and adding interest charges. They are suing me in small claims court to get the money. I feel their behavior is bordering on elder abuse, as they have gaslighted me and been dismissive and disrespectful of concerns I raised, refusing to take responsibility for damage. This story is much longer, but space is limited. I can provided Resolution Sought Garage door cannot be repaired, as it is vinyl. Replacement cost is roughly $2800. They charge $78 an hour for labor and I spent 8 hours cleaning up roofing debris $624 (as a senior with disability issues, this was very strenuous work for me). Repair/replacement cost for the metal roof they damaged as yet unknown. I may need to hire an inspector to get an independent evaluation of damage and repairs, as I've been unable to find a willing contractor. I have significant leaks due to the damage.
