The company is requesting the full amount but has several things pending completion in order to finish the work. There are missing cabinets, countertops, mirrors , cabinet door , uneven floor , and crown molding missing or in need of attention. We were advised that it would done in 1-3 days- it's been several weeks now, dating back to 8/22. Several attempts to reach the company by my contractor were unsuccessful-. As JL requested electrical and the plumber to be addressed to move forward with their work. Even after the JL requested work was done , they never returned to finish the contracted work. To date they can't confirm when the products for the cabinets and countertops will arrive nor specify in writing that the things need to be done to finish the contracted work . Additionally, The closets were placed at giraffe height or the height of a basketball player. The sales person mentioned that the installer was seven foot and probably did the height to his measurements. I can't reach the second shelf which makes the shelves unsafe and useless. This area was set for my mother who will fall if she tried to climb a ladder or step stool to access it. Verbally they mentioned they will fix the issues and complete the job. No attempt to fix it yet. Now that there is a trust issue, I can't accept her words - it must be in writing. We relocated to Florida from NY but they had access to the house but nothing has been done to complete the work. Resolution Sought I want the work to be completed. Cabinets lowered to an acceptable height Cabinets installed as agreed upon in the contract Mirrors installed crown molding install Cabinet draw replaced Countertop install Floor of the cabinet in moms room corrected at the seams The company to write out exactly what is pending with the the date it will be completed Willing to escrow the money but afraid that if we pay them , they will never finish and take our money.

Our installation began on 8/25 when we sent six installers to start the project. Two installers were assigned to the laundry area, but they were removed from the project on 8/28 because that room required plumbing and electrical work to be arranged and completed by the client. At the start of the project, there were no electrical outlets for the closet lighting, and the washer and dryer were originally specified as front-loading units. The client later opted for top-loading units, requiring modifications to the original design. Additionally, the laundry room sink needed to be removed and disconnected before installation could proceed. No removal of prior cabinets had been completed; All of these were responsibilities of the clients to be completed prior to our installation, however they had not been done which prohibited us from completing our work. In the laundry room, the client also needed to remove a sink and relocate electrical connections before we could complete our installation. We followed up on 8/29 regarding the progress of these tasks; the plumbing and electrical work (which was the client's responsibility) did not commence until 9/11, and we were notified that the plumbing was completed on 9/17. Due to these delays, the earliest available date to resume the installation was 9/29, when our installation supervisor conducted a thorough assessment of the plumbing and electrical work to confirm completion. We then scheduled to complete the project on 10/2. However, before returning, the client initiated a chargeback. As a result, per the terms of our contract we canceled the return date until the payment matter could be resolved. Our contract does not specify a completion date and we never give client completion date timelines as we do not know what kinds of issues we will run into when construction starts. Furthermore, as stated in the contract signed by the client: Section (9) of our Terms and Conditions, the client agreed to pay 50% of the total project cost upon contract signing and the remaining 50% upon the arrival of the installation team on the first day of work. Initiating a chargeback or withholding payment without proper contractual justification constitutes a material breach of contract. The agreement explicitly states that any unpaid balance over 30 days is considered a default, subject to 1.5% monthly interest (18% annually), as well as reimbursement of all costs and legal fees incurred by JL Closets in pursuit of recovery. Furthermore, Section (14)(C) reinforces that failure to make timely payments is a material breach, giving JL Closets the right to suspend or terminate performance under the contract.

Customer Rebuttal

the plumbing and electrical work wasn’t raised until 8/28/25 at 3:43 pm via text from Melanie. Despite JL Closet claims, the plumbing work was completed by my contractor on 8/31/2025 & the electrical work was completed by or before 8/2825 ( I have video/ invoice). My husband was on the property job site from 8/16/25 to 8/26/25 to oversee the first installment. JL Closet employees left the first day without completing -the work because they did not have all the cabinets and supplies. Per the images the cabinets on both sides of the laundry room are missing. Per text message, that” the cabinets were manufactured too big so it had to be reordered”. New date 9/29/25- no install but a walkthrough- cabinet still not there. This continued 10/1, 10/2, 10/23 - still no cabinets. JL Closet last agree- "no commitment /guarantee as to when they will complete the project- how can i sign this? they can take days, weeks, months even years to complete this but they want they money. This is criminal. Please help this is not fair
