I hired a so called contractor to build a garage for me in the town of Hayward, WI. We filled out a contract and I gave him $12,00.00 to get started. He had me order sand so he could prepare pad for slab. He was supposed to get a skid steer over here the same week to level sand. 28 days later, he hadn't started yet. There was a huge pile of sand sitting in the middle of my driveway that me and my guests had to drive around. On the 28th day I told him, "we need to hold off till spring as it's starting to get cold. I told him my neighbor would level out sand for me. Told him to return my down payment to me and we could make out a new contract in the spring. He came out to my property that evening and made a mess pushing around the sand. After seeing how he left my property, I said, " That's it, we are done! Stay off my property. He would not answer his phone or return messages after that. Then I ran into him on another of his jobs. He said he would make everything good and would call me the next week. Never did though. I then sent him a letter of termination. He did respond once saying he would take care of things, but I needed to be patient. I found out that he isn't licensed in the state of WI and he's been sued numerous times. I have all our communications from cell texting copied. I gave him deadlines to get ahold of me so we could figure this out without having to take legal action. He has not responded. I think he's hoping I just go away. Resolution Sought Pay me my down payment back. I had to pay someone to fix the crappy work he did. He spent 1 hour here spreading sand. He spent one hour here plotting the garage spot. That's it.

I've been a builder for 25+ years and not a complaint. Build small garages, sheds and pole barns. Mark advanced the money for an agreement we had to build. He changed his mind 4 times on size and type of garage, Did not move propane line or tank. He was responsible for sand lift, leveling with neighbor, He designed the slab our due to a few cold days and changed his mind to spring build. I incurred expenses so because of his lies, threats to my family, non performance on his part, I will return most of his advance before December 31st, 2023, less expenses. Hold him harmless.

It is now Dec 31st, 2023 and we have not received the money back. I did not threaten anyone, just trying to get my money returned to me. We never promised that our neighbor would do sand leveling. The tank was moved. The design was changed one time, due to his recommendation. We have phone records of every communication I had with him to prove this. He told us to go look at a garage he built to see his work, but his son actually did the work.
