Jones Kia advertises one price on the web and on the window sticker at one price and then tacks on $3,500 as a "marketing adjustment" when you go to purchase (which we paid). This is considered false advertising in Maryland where only specific items can be added to the advertised price. Marketing adjustment is not one of them. The salesperson, Jericho Huntley, said it was beyond the dealership control, leading us to believe it was required by KIA USA or for some charge due to some external source due to the current unavailability of vehicles. In other words, that it is a mandatory charge. We found out later it is not mandatory and that the money goes to the dealership. The Jones Group knows better as they show marketing adjustment, when applicable, on their Jones Hyundai website. Their Hyundai dealership is within a mile of their KIA dealership on the same street. After buying 7 new KIAs from this dealership in the last 8 years, we didn't expect to be treated like this. If a charge is mandatory because KIA USA requires it, and all dealers charge it (which they don't) that is one thing. However, this is outright deception. I have attached the sale receipt showing the higher sales price, the Jones KIA internet ad for the same car, the window sticker, and Maryland law regarding what needs to be included in advertising. We were duped and want the marketing adjustment of $3,500 plus 6 tax ($210) refunded. Resolution Sought We want $3,710.00 refunded.
