Customer Complaint

I constructed townhouses in 2000 and used Kaycan as the supplier of my vinyl siding. Several years later, they needed to replace the entire unit siding due to significant fading. We then had a fire in 2016 and had to replace siding and, again, I chose to use Kaycan for my siding. However, we have been having problems with staining, fading and bubbling. I contacted them in September 2021 and advised them of this problem. They said I needed to have the contractor, Compass Construction, Fred Anderson, address the issue with them. To date, I have had NO resolution and no attempt to contact me or the contractor or even inspect the issue. I sent pictures to my contractor. Resolution Sought I am requesting that the business stand by their warranty and either replace all the siding or compensate me to find another suitable vendor.

Company Response

We exchanged correspondence with the homeowner regarding our file #328-171 responding to the homeowner's inquiry and providing feedback and helpful information as to the source of the issue and what can be done to remedy the situation. • Regarding the "melted siding item" confirming this is not a product defect nor a valid manufacturing claim but provided several related links one of which is referenced from the Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) . • Concerning the item showing a stain in the picture, we requested to obtain pictures per the attached guideline we submitted to the homeowner along with a claim form and have yet to obtain the requested pictures and documentation. The file was opened September 29 2022 and will remain open 60 days from that date after which it will be closed. Please note that unless we obtain the required pictures and claim form to be submitted by the homeowner within the allotted time frame, no further communication will take place and the file will then be permanently closed.

Customer Rebuttal

My contractor, Fred Anderson, with Compass Construction shared these pictures and their e-mail response was that the bubbling was due to solar reflection and is not covered under the warranty. They refused to come and inspect the home. I stated that ALL three times that their siding was installed, not once did I receive any warranty information from the company, not to mention, this was the first I have ever heard of solar reflection causing the bubbling....Thanks for your help
