I went to add a new key fob to my 2011 Nissan Murano. Was quoted approximate $95.00 to have programmed in 45 minutes time. After an hour, they told me the mechanism in the dash was broken and not allowing the fob to go in to be programmed. They then told me that even the backup fob will not work since they erased my car's computer. They didn't check if the programming can be done BEFORE erasing everything. My vehicle is a push button start and now has no way to be started. They said they can fix it, but the part wouldn't be available until tomorrow. They said with parts and installed it would cost me $1230.00. I don't feel I should pay for the mechanic's mistakes. The key fob slot on the dash should have been checked before wiping out the computer. I'm sure this is not a first time of them seeing that in their garage. I asked them for a rental car until I could figure this out. I was told a rental would be another $45.00+ per day, that also would be at my own expense . I took a shuttle home. My vehicle is still at Kocourek Nissan. Resolution Sought I would like the business to take responsibility and have the amount for repairs waived. Due to several cars going to push button start, they should let this incident be learning tool for the mechanics.
