A contract was signed stating we would have a budget of 15000 with the designer. The designer said he did not pay attention to the money spent and ended up spending the 15000 before everything was purchased. We verbally agreed that I would purchase the rest of the items needed and install the floor(as the designer was supposed to take care of that within the 15000 but couldn't). Then the designer states the 2,000 I originally gave him to start the project was not included in the 15000. It does not state that the 2,000 is not part of the 15,000 in our contract. He then gives us a bill for about 5,000. He refuses to show any receipts. He gave use a paper with numbers on there. I do not trust what he came up with. How do I know he isn't just writing numbers up to get paid more? Plus it was decided we would purchase the rest ourselves. What money did he use to purchase these items if not ours? I feel he is money grabbing and not professional. We always asked if items were within budget to which he replied "yes." Then somehow we were over budget?? It doesn't make sense. When we talked about him going over the budget he showed no concern. I do not feel that I owe him any more money. He received the 15,000 that was decided on the contract. Remember, I had to pay thousands more for the rest of the purchasing since he "went over budget." I tried to work things out with him, but he is unprofessional and disregards me. Again, I should not have to pay him any more. Resolution Sought Drop his last payment and apologize.
