Customer Complaint

On June 13, 2022, I had to have my 2017 Kia Sorrento towed to the LaFontaine dealership in Ypsilanti, Michigan due to a mechanical malfunction. My 2017 Kia Sorrento has less than 100,000 miles. Due to this fact, I was under the impression that the mechanical issue was covered by the 100,000 mile warranty. I spoke to a representative from Kia on June 14, 2022, and was advised it would be inspected by a technician within the next few days and I would hear back. I asked if I could receive a loaner vehicle at this time and was told I could not. On June 17, I called the dealership back and was informed by the service representative that since I purchased the vehicle from another owner that the 100,000 mile warranty did not apply and I would have to pay for the repairs. I contacted the corporate office regarding this matter, as I was unsure why the warranty did not still apply, since the vehicle was under 100,000 miles. Once I was told that the warranty did not apply from the corporate office, I made plans to borrow the $1900 needed to get the repairs (this was the cost sent for me to approve). I was given a loaner vehicle on July 1, 2020, as the associate stated it might be a week or so before the part came in to the dealership. I received a call on July 7, 2022, and was informed that the total cost for repairs was 4400.00. I never approved that amount--nor did I ever sign an approval or give a verbal approval for that amount. Resolution Sought 1). Honor the 100,000 mile warranty for the vehicle. 2). If the warranty is not honored, pay the agreed upon cost of 1900 for the repair(s).
