I dropped my atv cylinder off to be bored he bored it and called me and recommended I have him deck the cylinder I said okay if it needs it. He called me back and said the cylinder wall folded over when he did it and I would now need a new sleeve and a new piston $400. I agreed and paid for the parts to so I could get them back before my vacation. Then he charged me for installing the sleeve he messed up Boring the sleeve and the bore on the initial sleeve he messed up another $396.44 Resolution Sought I feel they should pay for the sleeve and bore job. If it wouldn't of gotten messed up I would of only been paying for a $80 bore job

Company Response

Company states; I will first state by saying we never mislead anyone and we always do our best to make our customers happy. This particular bore job was already on the very last bore. The sleeve already had damage and was in bad shape. I advised the customer of this and told him a sleeve would be advised, before any work was started. He explained he had already bought an expensive piston and wanted me to try to bore the cylinder. At that time, I advised him the deck was uneven as well and the cylinder needed to be decked and lapped. Mr. Giles was told of and explained to, all of the charges prior to the work being done or any parts ordered. He authorized all parts and labor. He stated that he needed the cylinder back for a trip he had planned. After he authorized the parts and work, I even stayed late until 11:30pm to finish the work for him so he could enjoy his trip with his ATV. It saddens me to know I did my best and charged appropriately for the work that I did, to find out it was not appreciated. Ultimately, if the part would not have broke at our shop, it would have broke while he was running the machine and would have caused catastrophic damage to the ATV's engine. We understand that money is tight but we want our customers to be safe and advised them the best course of repair for their machine. Summary: 1) The cylinder was already worn out broken before we received the cylinder and needed a new sleeve. 2) Customer authorized repairs, paid for half the parts up front and was aware of all work and charges and why the work was needed. 3) we did not over charge or make any mistakes. 4) If the cylinder was put into service it would have, in a short amount of time, failed. 5) The customer received a new/rebuilt part that will last for years.

Customer Rebuttal

The cylinder needed to be bored when I took it to him it didn't have the cylinder wall folded over. He also had the cylinder over a month and had me pay extra to get it shipped quicker so he would have more time to finish it. If I had ent called every week to check on it it would probably still be sitting there waiting.
