Customer Complaint

I recently purchased a car from them , when the sales guy started the car, I noticed I noise coming from the engine , when I asked I was told by the sales guy that it was a normal sound for that type of car ( 2016 Yukon ) I didn't really said much as it's a v8 and I really liked the car . Signed the papers and drove it home , when I got home , I reviewed the paper work and noticed that they had sold me a warranty without asking me for $2500 that would cover my new car engine for another $25000 miles . That made my payments go almost $80 dollars higher . As I was trying to lower my payments and didn't think it was necessary because the car should be good , asked them to remove it . next day I went to show my car to a friend . As soon as he heard it , he pointed out the ticking sound coming out of the engine . He told me he was pretty sure it's got a lifter problem , and to take it to a mechanic . I called the sales guy and told him what I was told to what he quick answered , we sold you the car as is , it's a done deal . I told him that I had pointed out the noise before and he lied by saying that it was a normal sound for that type of car . Then he said we tried to sell you a warranty to cover all that but you declined . Which now that I think about it , sounds like they new something was wrong with it that's why they put it on the paperwork without asking me first . And after I removed it and came back with this problem all they had to say is that it was sold as is . Resolution Sought I want them to take responsibility for this issue and fix it I paid over $25000 dollars for a car that I can't drive much because I was told that I could make the problem worse . I'm told it could be anywhere from $1500 to $ 4000 depending on how many lifter will have to be replaced and if there is any damage to the camshaft .

Company Response

Company states: The customer was offered a service contract with the purchase of the 2016 GMC Yukon. all information regarding the warranty was disclosed, both written and verbally, throughout his purchase. After the sale was complete, he had second thoughts about the warranty. Our sales representative reassured him that it is highly recommended to keep the service contract. He still decided to decline the warranty a second time, so we then re-contracted the deal to exclude the additional cost of the warranty. We always recommend the extended warranty option given that these vehicles are used and we sell each car As Is.
