Assure that no customer would have to go through this headache and embarrassment.
I was given a gift for my birthday through Macys and did not like the fit of the article of clothing that I received. I went to the Macys in Flushing to return it and could not because my friend did not give me a gift receipt. She then told me she wouldn't be able to give me store credit even though she found the item online. I called Macy's customer service line and spoke with a representative who I thought resolved the issue and sent me a return label. He assured me my friend would not be privy to the return and I was told I would receive a gift card in the mail. I left work early to send this item back and have not received my gift card. I provided Macys a grace period of 2 weeks as I know these things can take time. Once the 2 week mark hit, I called Macys to check on the status of the gift card and was informed that my friend was reimbursed and I would not be receiving the gift card. The customer service representative told me Macys would rectify the situation and would send a gift card after waiting 45 minutes for a solution. Naturally, having very little faith, I requested a written confirmation be sent via email. The representative, Renan, told me it would take 30min to an hour to receive the email. I verbally confirmed my email twice and after three hours I called back to find out they sent this to my friend's email instead of mine. After being a loyal and faithful customer for 20 years, I will never shop there again & will inform my friends about this situation.
