I am writing to seek assistance with getting out of our timeshare agreement with Massanutten Resorts. When we initially purchased the timeshare, the salesperson informed us that it would be a cost-effective way to take vacations and that we could pass it on to our children and grandchildren. However, they failed to make it clear to us that our children would be burdened with the debt associated with the timeshare. We were misled about the duration of the presentation. We were told it would only take 90 minutes, but it ended up lasting at least 3 hours. The high-pressure tactics used during the presentation made us feel uncomfortable and coerced. Over the past 20 years, we have encountered numerous difficulties in finding available timeshares for our desired vacation destinations and dates. As a result, we have often had to pay for hotel accommodations instead. The representative promised that buying into a timeshare would save us money on hotels, but it has only added stress and financial burden to our vacation planning. In reality, our family has only been able to use the timeshare 5-7 times in the last 20 years. We are incredibly frustrated and disappointed with this experience, and we simply want to detach ourselves from this timeshare and the company. It is perplexing to us why they are unwilling to release us from this agreement when they were the ones who misled us in the first place. We are reaching out to you, the Business Consumer Alliance, in the hopes that you can Resolution Sought The Desired outcome would be for this timeshare to be canceled
