I got offered to do a free model shoot for her. After talking to her she told me that I would need to put down a $200 deposit fee for my appointment. I did that and a couple hours later she sent me a contract that had to be filled out within 24 hours. I did that . She informed me that if I wanted to buy my pictures I would need the full amount for the pricing of the picture package. I informed her that my family is tight on money and that we would need to go through the financial assistance because we would be unable to come up with that amount in 4 days. The financial assistance she goes through I could not use because you had to have already bought something and paid it off to see if I could even use it for her prices. I have been trying all week to get the amount for the pictures and have been unsuccessful. I informed her this morning of the situation and that I would still come in and get them done and she could still use them for advertising and that I was still trying to get it worked out. She messaged me 3 hours later and said she would need to charge me a cancellation fee because she would not do the pictures without me buying them. 20 minutes later before I could even message her back she tried to charge my card $300 and was unsuccessful. It was never discussed in any of her emails, text, phone calls, or her contract that I would have to buy the pictures. The only thing it said was that if I wanted my pictures I would need the full amount of the picture package. Resolution Sought I would like for her to have better communication with her clients so that no one will have to go through this like I did. And to be more upfront with her prices and for her to send out a contract before collecting deposits. And to let her clients know that they have to pay for pictures or she would not shoot.

Client was fully informed through emails, a zoom call, and in her contract how the model call worked. I explained in full that photos were to be purchased and that it was a discounted session in exchange for her allowing us to use the photos in our marketing materials. It is also outlined in the contract she signed that the non-refundable retainer did not include any images but could be used as a credit towards the purchase of a collection. She did not inform me until the day before her shoot that she could not get approved for financing and could not afford to pay for the photos. That is considered a cancellation because the cost to staff the studio is more than the non-refundable deposit she paid and does not cover lost wages due to us not being able to fill her spot in less than 24 hours. This was also her third time applying for this model call and having a scheduled phone call where I explained the details of everything, but her first time booking.
