My wife and I were apply for a home loan. We were not even given "conditional loan approval" before the loan officer pulled $550 out of my account for the appraisal. Well, it turns out that we have to forego closing on our house now because they did not approve us for the loan. So, how can they charge us for an appraisal on a house that they are not even going to give us a loan for? Resolution Sought A total refund. The appraiser charge $485. They refunded a whopping $65 back to our account.
