We brought our car in for an electrical repair. After over a month with a new battery, the car simply refused to start or even turnover in a parking lot one day. We had it towed to the dealer, who found the main fuse had blown. I asked them what else they checked, to which they replied they turned it on and test drove it. At the same time, we had them do a tune up, since the vehicle had not been seen by a dealer for some time. They performed all the work for around $2100. Again, upon receiving the vehicle back, I asked what had caused the fuse to blow, but they were unable to provide a satisfactory answer. Not 5 miles off the lot, my family's vehicle died in the middle of a major road, this time losing all electrical power, unable to take the vehicle out of ignition, likely draining the battery and doin g additional damage, but we won't know until we can get it started again. Now the dealer claims the starter failed, blowing the fuse again (the fuse is covered), the starter is not. They are overcharging us for the replacement starter (another $1100 for parts, labor, and tax — local average $750 for parts and labor) and refuse to admit culpability in their failure to perform a thorough repair the first time. They have no loaner vehicles available while our family vehicle is out of commission. Additionally, they are being dodgy with answering our questions — redirecting, avoiding the question, not providing satisfactory answers over what failed in the first place. Resolution Sought Compensation for the lack of a loaner vehicle for the last two weeks while in this dispute. Admitted culpability for the danger their work put my family in. Replacement of any additional electrical components that failed due to their negligence.
