Customer Complaint

Motorworx charged me $9700.00 to build a race car for my son-in-law. Told me car would be done by June 2023. They always had an excuse why car was not done. In Oct I contacted the owner of the shop that Mororworx rented and I was told the parts I paid for never were ordered and work was never done that the merchant had lied to me all along. Tried to file a fraud complaint with my credit card company but they wouldn't take the fraud charge off my bill but company says it was past the time to file and they won't help me. The merchant is now in jail for doing this to other customers. Am I responsible for this charge or is there something I can do? Resolution Sought I would like this taken off my credit card bill.
