Customer Complaint

3/29/2022

I purchased a 2022 Kia Rio from this dealer on 1/19/2022 on 2/8/2022, I parked the vehicle on Sangamon north of Van Buren in Chicago at approx. 6 am. At 3:15 pm I left work. When I got in the car, I used the dash video to back up and pull out of the parking spot. I noticed the rear window looked foggy so I hit the rear defroster button. As I proceed west out on I 290 I noticed the window was not clearing. This prompted me to pull over and take a closer look at the rear window. The window looked to be shattered. There was no evidence of any kind of external impact damage that could have caused it. I stopped by the Napleton Kia on the way home. After careful examination they agreed to repair it under warranty. They told me they thought it would be ok to continue to drive the vehicle as the factory tint would hold it together like a big piece of tape. They told me that the glass was back ordered and would be 4-6 weeks to get as of 2/8. On 2/18&19 the window started coming apart at my residence in Granite City, IL. I contacted dealer again. The told me to contact Kia Corporate. In order to get the car back in the area, I had to cover the window completely with duct tape (2 layers) to return it to the area. It is at the location of my condo in Itasca, IL and cannot be driven as Illinois Law prohibits operation of a vehicle with obstructed view. The dealer refuses to provide a replacement vehicle or loaner, as does Kia corp as well and will provide no ETA for parts. Resolution Sought Provide replacement vehicle (loaner or different car etc) or take this one back and refund my money.
