I am writing to file a formal complaint against National Debt Relief regarding their handling of a recent transaction and their refusal to honor my request for a refund. I believe their actions violate my consumer rights. Below, I outline the details of the situation: 1. Date of Contact and Request: On November 20, 2024, I contacted National Debt Relief to request the cancellation of a scheduled payment of $224 set to be deducted from my account on November 21, 2024. I was informed that it was too late to stop the transaction, which I understood. 2. Subsequent Request for Refund: I explicitly instructed National Debt Relief that once the November 21 payment cleared, they were not to use the funds for any settlements and that the money should be refunded to me. Despite my clear request, they disregarded my instructions and informed me the money would be used for a settlement without my consent. 3. Timeline of Events: • The $224 payment was taken from my bank account on November 21, 2024. • National Debt Relief informed me the funds would clear on November 26, 2024. • I repeatedly reiterated my request for a refund, but they refused to comply, stating the funds had already been applied to a settlement. 4. Violation of My Rights: I believe National Debt Relief's refusal to refund my money violates my rights as a consumer. I have the right to control how my money is used, especially after making a clear request. Their unwillingness to respect my instruc Resolution Sought Resolution Sought: I am requesting that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigate this matter and ensure that National Debt Relief issues a full refund of the funds in question. Additionally, I ask that steps be taken to ensure this company adheres to proper consumer protection practices in the future.
