Newport acceptances is charging me for allegedly not complying with having my insurance active as required by my contract they have harassed me to send them my declarations page and threatened to charge me for providing with one I sent out proof they want monthly proof my insurance has been active this whole time I recently sent them an email with proof on 7/14/2023 to avoid this from happening and they still did it anyway to overcharge me. Resolution Sought Remove the fee of $1342 and stop these harassing and demeaning practices I have complied but I don't need to send them monthly proof.

We received Mr. Sarmiento's proof of insurance (POI) on August 3rd and adjusted his account accordingly, resulting in a complete cancellation of the Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) we had purchased for his account. His current POI is valid until 10/26/2023, barring earlier cancellation by his insurer, so we will not need updated POI until that time. Mr. Sarmiento, I am sorry you feel harassed by our requests. They aren't meant to harass in any way. You should keep in mind that any time you finance a vehicle - whether it's a purchase or a lease - the contract stipulates you maintain full coverage insurance, and failure to provide that proof can result in the contract holder purchasing CPI insurance on your account. This incurs not only the insurance charges but additional interest charges for the transaction. We try to avoid this, but unfortunately there isn't a central clearing house of vehicle insurance, so we can't gather all the data ourselves. If you're insured with a provider who *does* provide online access to lienholders, we do check status with them before going to the effort of purchasing a CPI policy. Your current insurer doesn't offer lienholder access, so we have to place our request with you. Thank you for providing the requested information,.

Thank you and I do understand we need to comply to our contract agreements. I don't understand the need to submit monthly proof. I have noticed this trend with many customers on your BBB reviews. These are unethical and predatory practices to trump-up finance charges.

As a bit of additional background - and just in case this was your issue with my initial response - the proof of insurance (POI) Mr. Sarmiento provided qualified for a full cancellation and credit to his account for the Collateral Protection Insurance we acquired for his account. I don't know where his $1,342 number came from, but that policy was $1,515 and it was fully credited back to his account once we received his POI.

I have been blocked out of my account on and off for the past 2+years, they make me pay it on a prepaid card to a 711 gas station which I've had many hassles with them not accepting the amount the finance company requires me to pay due to load limits. My payments jumped from $500.70 a month up and up and now are $680.67 a month, they have made false 30 day late payments to credit bureaus multiple times before the payment due date was even present. My 54 month loan is over 3years in paying almost $700 months and I'm not even 30 paid off of my loan they have broken the contract and made my life a struggle for too long. Resolution Sought I'll take a refund and surrender car or want my original terms to resume and the impound threats to stop.

Mr. Lever should contact one of our customer service representatives regarding this and his account. We'd love to chat with him and provide any details he would like. Our payment methods are listed on our website. Our customers are welcome to mail check or money order payments to us using their statement stub and the envelope we mail monthly. They'll need to provide a stamp and drop it in the mail. If they're local and prefer to stop by our office in Tustin, they're welcome to do so Monday through Friday. (We don't accept cash.) If they have a bank account, they may set up automatic payment from their bank. This will mail a check to us, arriving on the date they instruct. We also accept payment through PayNearMe, a third-party service that accepts cash payments at a variety of locations including most - and probably all - 7-Eleven stores, WalMart, and I believe Family Dollar. Again I encourage Mr. Lever to contact any of our customer service representatives available through our toll-free number: 800-353-5886. After the introductory announcement - and after the statement you can enter the extension at any time - option 1 will take you into our customer service queue and the first available rep will take care of your call. While I can't comment on the status of an account (third party disclosure laws), I can say that we take our credit reporting responsibilities seriously. If Mr. Lever believes he has inaccurate information reported by us, we'd like to discuss his specific complaints directly. He's also welcome to file a credit dispute through Experian and we will respond appropriately. If he would like to voluntarily surrender the car, he's welcome to contact us to coordinate the matter.
