Bought a new 2022 honda civic car on Friday and I also filed a bbb complaint that I never heard back from. The car randomly shuts down and I only avg 20mpg. I had the same issue with the 2022 civic lx that I traded in on friday. The dealership and corporate will not recognize the fuel pump defects so I want any money I can get back so I can get a working toyota corolla across the street. Resolution Sought Give me money back minus the depreciation I will never buy a honda again.

Like states it happens randomly . Cause: test drove the vehicle but could not verify the concern. Did find a new stall on-board snapshot stored. Correction: vehicle is working as designed ,no problem found ro closed- 11-18-21 here is a summary from service manager mike vasquez-2hgfe2f55nh541155 current vehicle- 2022 civic sport-.I've reviewed his concerns regarding both of his vehicles. There is no mention or recommendation on any of his visits to our dealer for a "fuel pump" replacement, either from our technicians, advisors, shop foreman or from american honda techline. We've concluded (our technicians, advisors, shop foreman or from american honda techline) his concern on his previous vehicle (vin 2hgfe2f55nh541155) the "shutting off" issues were related to his aftermarket 12v inverter & non factory fuel additives. There was zero recommendations for any repair on his current vehicle (vin 2hgfe2f55nh541155- 2022 civic sport-purchased-11-12-21) of any kind on his one and only visit to the service department. His vehicle is working as designed.

Customer Rebuttal

12/6/2021

Since corporate is basically ignoring me after they told me they will buy the vehicle the trade in 2022 sports models exhibited same symptoms and shut down three times while driving. Recently hearing squealing sounds from the fuel pump in which the dealership will not fix since they cannot replicate and to replicate the car has to overheat the pump which takes 4-5 hours. After researching the problem honda did recall over 600000 2020 Accords with symptoms similar to mind. Everytime I go they either refuse to acknowledge any issue and if I talk to corporate the couple of ladies that answer the phone are drunk and refuse to help. At this point I can continue to drive the car until I pay it off and then buy q Toyota Corolla in three years and never buy any honda again. My sister wanted an Acura told her my problem and she now will not buy any Honda branded product as well. I can continue to wait 2-3 years until enough complaints make the company do a recall but by then I would have moved on to another manufacturer.

Company Final Response

Upon review of the customer rebuttal, I will review some details listed in my initial response. The 2022 Civic Sport was brought in for one service visit. The customer never mentioned a squealing sound. The fuel pump was never mentioned as a concern on any visits. The Accord recall he is referencing has no relation to a problem with his Civic Sport or LX. If he would like us to diagnose a problem with his new Civic we would need him to remove the aftermarket electronics plugged into his car. So far no problem was found with new 2022 Civic Sport, and the vehicle is working as designed. I received 2 letters from Honda financial regarding refund of gap insurance etc. I went to norm reeves Cerritos filled out the paperwork. Since then I have heard nothing from the dept that handles it . I have also left 5 messages. Then I contacted the general manger twice who's phone always goes to voicemail I guess the next step is to contact Honda directly. So ridiculous they pay a person to handle this and the don't. Worst thing. I just bought a new car from norm reeves Huntington Beach 2 months ago. That will never happen again. The car was paid off like 2 months ago Resolution Sought Acknowledge the request with some kind of answer. Don't ignore people if they are not buy a new car. Show some kind of customer service.

I spoke to Mr. Tomi Rogers on Friday 8-20-21 and apologized for the lack of follow up. I gave him the contact email for our Cancellations clerk, Alicia Perez and her email. I requested that he upload the Cancellation Form he filled out at the store and any related documents and send them to Alicia and copy me. Tomi said he will do that and I will follow up next week, Friday 8-27-21. It takes 6-8 weeks to process.
