On 11/7/2021, I purchased a 2013 Scion from Oakland Honda. The car was advertised for $9,998. I test drove the vehicle and made a cash price offer of $9,498. (a $500 discount which I was offered at the Walnut Creek Honda for cash payment of a similar car, which eventually fell through). I also was interested in purchase of an extended warranty of 5 years since this was a used vehicle. Oakland Honda accepted my offer, then persuaded me to purchase a service contract, which I was told could be cancelled at any time which I did not want but then with all the pressure I finally accepted. Under California law, I had 72 hours to change mind on the car and everything related to the purchase of the car. I found out the extended warranty they sold me could be only used at their location (they had told me it can be used at any Honda service and I use Walnut Creek Honda for all of my vehicle services since 2005). I then attempted to cancel both the extended warranty and maintenance agreements but they had cleverly transferred the $500 discount toward the extended warranty instead of the purchase price of the vehicle and had a hidden $150 cost for cancellation of the maintenance agreement which they pressured me to purchase. I was within my 72 hours of requested cancellation and they shortchanged my refund by $650.. I disputed this with my credit card company (I used $2,500 of credit card and the rest was a check). Oakland Honda has refused to cooperate and I need to sue them in court Resolution Sought Refund my $650 and stop misrepresenting their service contracts and/or any other services they offer in addition to selling used cars.
