I hired this company to lay carpet in living room and my stairwells. first of all he only measured one stairwell (split entry home) and I asked him why I would do only one stairwell so of course not enough carpet. While the carpet layer was laying living room carpet there was extra so figured just use left over to do stairs. So now he says he order extra and I would have to pay him $130.00 for the extra carpet. He never told me and the carpet layer anything about that and and I stored this in my garage from last week till today and now I get a email today that I have to pay for it. Why wouldn't he of took his extra carpet off roll before delivering to my house??? Resolution Sought Eat the cost because he never told me and I stored it thinking it was our carpet and never told anything.

I was called by Laura for a carpet quote to redo an existing living room. The room took a piece of carpet to be 12' x17', It is a split entry home. I informed her when I arrived the first of many times that I just received a new knee and was just able to climb steps. On one of the many trips back, she also asked to have steps redone as well. She pointed to the flight going up to the living room. I measured those and provided an extra quote for those. We discussed to choose a different carpet weight which means a shorter pile height. I never looked at the other steps going to the lower level since she pointed to the ones quoted. The living room carpet chosen was of a taller height. Later, this was brought up of the second flight not being done. I explained what she pointed to and was quoted. 80% of homeowners want the upper flight to match what is on that floor with the lower flight to match the lower level. She never pointed to them, and they were not quoted. I made a point to pick up the carpet once it hit the freight terminal and called ahead to deliver it to save handling of the goods twice due to my new knee. It was placed in the garage and was installed the next day as well. The mill only had a small piece left with a production date out 3 weeks as well. I bought a roll end to save time and trying to keep a customer happy. The balance was to be sold as a remnant. Her 12' x 17' which was quoted was installed as well as a 12' x 5' for the one flight of steps. She was quoted another 12' x 5' to finish the second flight of steps. She paid for what was on the original quote. With a balance left was to be returned to my warehouse by the installer. Instead, a taller height carpet was "taken" and installed on the second flight. We discussed on the previous flight the shorter nap would work better for matting and crushing. I was not able to cut the balance off due to my surgery and should not have created this problem. Instead, she has a piece which is not paid for. She willingly paid the installer for the extra labor but not willing to pay for the extra carpet or pad. At this point, she can keep the piece. I am stuck with a short carpet to sell to a playhouse, etc., worthless to me. Ray Charles could see this one coming. Since it is free, I hope she is happy. Any ill will from this will be handled promptly on my end.
