I went to the shop because the driver side automatic window had stopped working. They charged me $15500 to just remove the door panel then told me all the parts would have to be replaced because of a poorly done repair job done on it earlier...there never was an earlier repair job done! They then informed that it would cost an additional $50800 to repair it. They have already ordered the parts. What can I do? Resolution Sought To get out of paying so much for the repair...I believe I was scammed. I don't think I need the motor replaced. And I don't think it should cost that much to fix the window.

I am more than happy to discuss this with you, first to be clear he paid $155 not $15500 and the estimate was for $508 not $50800. The window would not go up when he came in, he had no appointment but needed it urgently as he parks outside and was panicking someone was going to go into his vehicle. Despite our busy schedule I had to have one of our technician's stop what they were working on to help Mr. Bever. Once inside of the door it was apparent there were bent components and as a result it was difficult to get the regulator removed from the window. We then had to have another tech stop what he was doing to assist the first tech to prevent breaking the glass (necessary to place with window upright as Mr. Bever required). The glass is needed because the metal had come off and is non-repairable - it actually appears someone at one time had put epoxy as a repair which obviously did not hold. Our labor rate is $155 an hour for 1 guy - this job required 2 people and took over an hour and a half. He was only charged for 1 person for 1 hour. New glass, new regulator, new motor and labor all for $508 is beyond reasonable... however he will have to go elsewhere!
