Customer Complaint

This company has been sending me a postcard saying I owe them $85 (now 97.70) for almost a year. I have been trying through email, USPS, phone to get an answer as to what the charge was for. No response ever given and not reflected on postcard. I recently sent yet another letter asking for explanation, this time they responded. Claim the charge is for scheduled appointment when I wasn't home. There was no scheduled appointment ever made prior to this date. They showed up at my house on a day I am working, claim it to be scheduled appointment, and charge me $85 for it. They are threatening me with collections. I have a detailed timeline and receipts, including phone records to support my claims. I have recently filed complaints of deceptive business practice with the state and government. Resolution Sought Stop charging me for fraudulent business services, stop contacting me.

Company Response

Debby sceduled an appointment with us to have her ultra violet bulb changed in her system. Debby was not home on the sceduled and confirmed date. She was not upset at the time and simple rescheduled her appointment, to which we changed out the bulbs and she paid without issue. It wasnt until she was charged for the original call that she was upset. Normally it would actually be $110.00 as Debby is quite a ways out of town and considered as such. We cut her a break at $85.00. She has been informed of the charge multiple times and has resorted in sending us letters in the mail. We were not threatening to turn her over, We were actually letting her know this is her final notice and we ARE turning her over to collections. She has clearly stated she is not going to pay therefore we have to resort to this.

Customer Rebuttal

There was no scheduled appointment made, and any appointment made would not have been on a day that I work and am not even home. There is zero contact with this company, as seen in phone, email and USPS records, prior to this "scheduled and confirmed date." I'd like to see the records proving it was confirmed. Upset? That's cute. I was not "informed of the charge multiple times," or we would not be in this position. I was sent postcards with nothing on them other than saying I owe $85. I asked for almost a year through email, phone and "sending us letters in the mail" what that charge was for. I can't believe I have paid this company over $1500 for services and this is their response to an erroneous charge. Pettyjohns is a fitting name.

Company Final Response

Please understand we would still gladly do business with Debby. Our standard billing is postcards sent in the mail with the amount due attached. Most of the time this is sufficient as most customers understand this is a bill. You verbally requested to know what the charge was for and we explained it. You then refused to pay. We are sorry you are upset about the bill, but you were informed everytime is was requested. We dont have any records of email besides the original work order you placed to have you and your dads place serviced. Furthermore there is nothing "cute" about the way you have handled being upset about an $85.00 bill. We gave you much more time than we normally allow to pay your bill, and have been nothing but nice even after the BBB denied your claim. I would also like to conclude by saying our name "Pettyjohn" is our founders last name and actually has nothing to do with being Petty as Debby has implied. This is the first time we have seen this confusion and simply wanted to clarify.
