My husband Doug is a diabetic, has a pacemaker and defibrillator his heart is weak. We were at the resort Sept 16-23. On Sept 22 my husband was told by the hotel staff he could not use the elevator due to a storm causing the wind to blow down the shaft. We were on the 11th floor. He climbed the stairs which put a lot of strain on his heart. He came in the room breathing so hard and was having tightness in his chest. The climbing of the stairs stressed his heart and caused a heart attack. We spent 9 days in Bristol TN hospital (6 in ICU). There needs to be an emergency plan I know this was not the first strong winds that ever occurred. The doctor said 11 flights of stairs was to much for a guy that already has a weak heart. Resolution Sought Come up with a plan for folks that can not climb stairs offer to let him stay seated in the lobby and call me. I was worried sick not knowing where he was what if he had died on the stair. This was not a good plan for sick people.
