I won 1,000,000 British Airways Avios from The Points Guy, which are valued at $10,000 or perhaps more. Prizeo was the organization giving out the prizes. The winner of the prize was supposed to be notified ON OR ABOUT the termination of the contest, which was January 31, 2022. I was notified of my win in April. The term "on or about," according to The Legal Dictionary, "means a date of approximate certainty." Thus, on or about January 31 could be January 31 or even the first five days of February. In no case would on or about January 31 be construed as April. A judge might laugh such a claim out of his court. I was not given my prize of 1,000,000 Avios (the frequent flyer currency of British Airways) because I answered the email I was sent a few hours after the twenty-four hours I was given by Prizeo to answer. Yet they should have sent me an email telling me I had won on January 31. Simply put, they were wrong and cheated me out of my prize. I am now looking at legal remedies to redress this miscarriage of justice on their part. On a slightly different note, I have written them many emails, only one of which they have had the ethics to answer, and this is truly an indication of the type of business they are. They even offered me a "consolation" prize which, after three months, they have not yet sent. This is not my idea of an ethical business. Resolution Sought I want the 1,000,000 AVIOS that are rightfully mine, that I won fair and square in the contest run by The Points Guy. Anything less is a travesty of justice. And, as a sidelight, they should answer their correspondence. No business is so "important" as to ignore those with whom they have a relationship, even one of adversity.
