On November 4, 2024, six months into my lease, I was involved in a car accident where I was rear-ended by an Isuzu Box Truck on the highway. I had stopped to avoid a collision in front of me, but the truck behind me failed to stop in time, sandwiching my vehicle between the truck and a Toyota Corolla. The impact deployed my airbag and caused injuries. That day, I was shocked to learn that my insurance had been canceled—and as a result, my driver's license was suspended. I was told my policy was canceled in August due to unverified information and that I had been notified. However, I never received any calls, texts, emails, or letters. Given the severity of an insurance cancellation, I believe the company should have sent a certified letter requiring my signature. Instead, they simply claim they "sent communication." My stance is clear: show me proof that I received it. Because of this, I am now facing a $22,000 out-of-pocket expense for damages. This situation is unacceptable, and I am seeking options to hold the insurance company accountable for their failure to properly notify me. My Policy Number was: 8297 Valid from: 05.21.24 to 11.21.24. Accident was 11.04.24. This Policy was cancelled in 08.24. Resolution Sought I request Proof of Communication records: Demand records of all communications (emails, letter, call logs). If they cannot provide proof that I received and acknowledged their notices, I seek $22,000 which is what I am expected to pay Lincoln out of pocket.

Unfortunately I have not been able to make any progress. While I was called from the Claims Department at Progressive, after more than half an hour on the phone, the representative asked me to talk to the Policy Department. So essentially, I am being bounced around from Department to Department. What the Representative told me is that Progressive is not legally obligated to send out Cancellation letters by registered mail. Their stand point is that they sent out the communication, and my stand point is that I did not receive such communication. The number I was given to call is: 800-888-7764. The policy that was cancelled is number 981488297 (attached). The cancellation of this policy is costing me aprox. US$22K out of pocket. As a result to the accident, I was only grande US$15K. The pay off quote is for US$37K (37,000 – 15,000 = 22,000). I don't know what to do next.
