The buyer of my home hired this company to inspect my house. They unplugged my NEW freezer and DID NOT plug it back up. JAMES blamed me and my realtor. He hung up on me. Will not answer my calls. I had an est of $500 in food in the freezer. My freezer ruined with a horrible smell. It is less than 6 months old. I gave $400 for that. I did not hire this person to my home but I'm stuck with the loss. Resolution Sought That he replace the cost of my loss.

Company Response

On June 7, 2021, this inspector arrived at the address 1*** P***** A**, Kingsport TN, 37660 to complete a home inspection for a purchasing client. At this inspection it was notated the crawlspace entry was blocked by the current occupant's freezer and access was not possible. I was contacted by the buyer and the buyer's real estate professional/representative for a scheduled re-inspection of the crawlspace on June 10, 2021, but due to an unscheduled conflict this was moved to June 11, 2021 at 12:15pm. This re-inspection was coordinated though the buyer's agent who notified the inspector the freezer in question was empty, and I could move said freezer. On June 11, 2021 at 12:15 I arrived at the property in question and rang the bell. A woman answered the door and said, "Do whatever you need" and shut the door. As a 21 year veteran of the fire service and a medical provider, it was of my opinion the woman who answered the door was intoxicated or suffers from a disorder due to witnessed slurred speech, erratic body movements, and the inability to maintain balance. I moved to the rear of the home and opened the freezer to ensure it was empty, only to find the freezer unplugged, warm and containing a few bags of vegetables that were bloated with decomposition gas. I closed the freezer door and moved it with ease as it was nearly empty therefore lightweight. I conducted the inspection of the crawlspace, exited and moved the freezer back into the original position and left the property. On June 18th I received a call from the complainant Ms. Baskette who was screaming at this inspector on the phone. I let her explain her situation and when I attempted to discuss this matter, she continued to yell at me, and I hung up the phone at that point. The buyer's agent contacted me to state that Ms. Baskette would be received a grocery store gift card from the listing agent, since the communication was from him that the freezer was empty. In the complaint Ms. Baskette stated the freezer was "less than 6 months old" which I would contest greatly. The freezer had significant rust and dirt on the exterior which would require a greater amount of time to develop than 6 months. She also stated that there was "An est. of $500 in food in the freezer" which is also not true as I was able to move the freezer with little effort and would not be able to accomplish if full of food. Many discrepancies are contained in the complaint. It is my opinion this matter lies outside the blame to Red Line Home Inspections.

I was not home. My realtor and neighbor would attest to that. And regardless that would have nothing to do with him unplugging the freezer and not plugging it back up. The freezer was purchased Sept 10 at Sam's club. I will send pics if the freezer showing it is free of rust and dirt. I'm tired of this so called business man running my name through the mud. Telling everyone I'm a liar, stupid and now I'm drunk and druggie. He made a mistake and needs to face it. That is the bottom line.
