This store at 440 Estrella Parkway in Goodyear Arizona refused to accept my personal check for a $58.00 grocery bill, claiming that I didn't have enough money in my bank account! A manager on site (blonde woman) said she ran my check through their machine three times, but since it didn't go through she refused to over ride it for me! No matter what I said about having plenty of money in my checking account, representative remained cocky and very defiant! In the end, after trying every thing to convince representative that she really should accept my check and manually run it through, I left all my groceries in my cart and walked out of the store! Please change your check policy to accommodate the failure of your electronic machines, I have written many checks at your Safeway store without any problems until today (Friday, August 19th, 2022)! Resolution Sought I expect a full and sincere apology and a $100 gift certificate for all the trouble I went through!

I am the Director of Front Operations in the Southwest Division. I reached out and spoke with the complainant today, 8/31 at 4:00 PM. I apologized and offered her a $100.00 giftcard for her inconvenience. I gave her the option of picking it up at Safeway Store #2618 or sending it to her in the mail. She opted to have it sent to her. The giftcard will go out tomorrow and hopefully she will receive by the end of the week.
