I had a storage at secure space and I was 2 months past due my storage had a lien on it and it was scheduled to be up for auction I came to an agreement with the manager to pay the vacate she gave me the amount of $320.95. I'm going through a financial hardship right now I'm currently homeless and I asked if she would come down just a little bit more because I did not have enough money and she said no. I was able to borrow the remaining amount that I needed and on January 11th I went into the office and I paid $320.95 and I was given a paper receipt. The following day on January 12th I received a receipt via email stating that my final payment was $213.97. I wasn't sure why the receipt in the email was less than the amount I paid so I started going through my emails and I found one the morning of January 11th that I had overlooked stating that she would accept a lower price to vacate of $213.97. I called the office to ask them why there was a difference in the amounts on the receipts and nobody was available in the office to speak to so I was directed to the call center. The call center looked at the records and they stated that it looked as if I had change coming back to me because the final payment was $213.97 but I had a paper receipt that stated I paid $320.95. I went to the office to ask for my change back and they said I was no longer a customer and to leave. I am also missing a lot of my belongings and I'm currently trying to file a police report. Resolution Sought To give me my $106.98 and my belongings back. The sheriff is telling me to get a copy of the contract to see if it says my belongings may be used to pay storage fees (which is not allowed in California) that's what a lien and auction is for. I paid to vacate to avoid losing my belongings at auction. The employees took multiple items from me and told me they didn't but the sheriff says my belongings were used to pay what I owed. Please help me.
