On May 13th of 2022 I received permission to move into a house on 1100 South Vicksburg Street in Marion Illinois. Upon getting my water turned on I was told by the city of Marion that I could not do so because the landlord I am renting from never set up an inspection. I notified SI Property Management of this, to which they continued to say they would handle it but it took a month to get a date scheduled. Once the city did the walk through, it failed inspection. Putting me in a rough position without water, to which the city had to allow an exception at the time because it was not legal for me to have moved in without water. During the months of residing at 1100 S Vicksburg I had asked for a prorated rent while I didn't have water. They never passed inspection while living there, often time didn't even show up when the city scheduled. There were months I had no water, my toilet flushed into my bathtub, which took weeks to get fixed. The first month I spent cleaning up the previous tenants animal hair and feces through the house. When we had the ice storm I had to put in multiple work orders to get SI Attention, to which when addressed the maintenance left the entire underneath of my kitchen sink open to the crawl space. I finally moved out and requested an update on my deposit to which they have now denied the entire deposit. The living situation was completely uncomfortable the entire time when I couldn't even use the facilities like normal. Resolution Sought I would like my deposit back for the months of absolute negligence they put me through. Nearly two months without water, a tub full of back flush, and never showing up to inspections. I suffered too much emotional distress and all I want is to move on.
