Solar company that bought leases from NRG which closed its NJ operations. Panels were installed on a roof that already had 2 (and in some places 3) layers of shingles. NRG refused to address the issue and a leak developed. I contacted OAG NJ. They went after them but then covid happened and all offices were closed. During covid I received a check for roof replacement but not for removing panels which was about $6 000 because NRG said it was Spruce responsibility due to them now owning. Spruce ignored us. The inside walls and ceiling began to Crack from the weight of panels and 2 layers of tiles. Still no response from Spruce. I had huge leak on ceiling and cracks. I finally had the roofer remove the panels so a roof could be installed. This was around Feb 24. My wife died 6/10/24 and I did not want to stay in the home we shared. I didn't pay the monthly charge for panels as they no longer existed. I felt eventually Spruce would reach out. My house went under contract first showing in September of 2024. That's when the 2 liens were found from NRG and Spruce. Around October 2024 a representative for Spruce showed up to my home. He called (I was at work) and I explained to him the issues inside with cracks and leak. He said he was going to inspect. Called me back and told me that his report was going to be that the panels should never have been installed on our roof due to the layers on it. Spruce made me pay $39,000 in order to close Resolution Sought Refund the money they forced me to pay in order to close. The installation should never have been done sand they assumed responsibility when they purchased. They refused to address and assist in correcting the issue
