On 11/09/2023, I noticed an unauthorized auto debit payment that was taken out of my Cadence Bank checking account and made payable to my " former" auto insurance company, State Auto. I never was notified that I owed State Auto any more payments or late payments on the former policy with State Auto and I never received a cancellation of insurance, nor was my insurance ever lapsed for non-payment. I had already authorized my new insurance company, Safeco to take automatic debits from my account on November 8, 2023. I do not understand how any company can go into my account and take out money without first getting permission from me. I had the payment from State Auto returned to me through my bank. I have now received a Collections Notice in the mail for $84.64 from State Auto Insurance. They are giving me 10 days to make a payment. This is the phone number where they are asking me to call them to make payment or payment arrangements. {614} 917-5710. Resolution Sought My desired outcome would be for State Auto to not contact me and to dismiss all claims to any balance they claim I owe due to the fact they have never given me proof that I owe them a balance or back payment out of the last 3 years that I have had a policy with them. They failed to inform me of any proof of any balance they claim I owe. Failing to get permission to take money out of my checking account without my permission or prior notice is an unlawful and unethical business practice

Received a quote from their agent and never followed up or signed any documents. They sent it to collection agency and never informed me before that. it should be clear or I will contact Insurance Commissioner. Resolution Sought Since I owned them nothing, it should be $0 balance. it was an illegal charge.
