I would like to formally file a complaint against Capital Vacations regarding our Stormy Point timeshare. Despite repeated efforts to cancel due to financial hardship and personal circumstances, the company has been uncooperative. When purchasing the timeshare, we were misled into believing we were buying a deeded cottage and could use it anytime. Instead, we discovered our usage week is in January or February, when we cannot travel due to farm responsibilities—a fact undisclosed during the sales process. We were also falsely assured that upgrading to a four-bedroom unit would make the property easier to resell, only to find reselling is nearly impossible. Our financial situation has deteriorated drastically due to ongoing droughts, declining crop prices, and rising farming costs. At the same time, the $1,100 monthly timeshare cost is unsustainable. Additionally, health challenges, including my husband's multiple surgeries, make travel unrealistic. Despite explaining these issues, Capital Vacations refuses to cancel the contract, showing no compassion for our financial and health struggles. We feel trapped in an agreement that no longer aligns with our needs or financial capacity. We request the Better Business Bureau's assistance in canceling our timeshare contract without further financial obligation, which we believe is a reasonable solution given our circumstances. We were told that we were BUYING a vacation home with multiple locations. We would hold title to a multiple bedroom home /condo. We were told that with the time share we would be able to stay in many different locations, We were told that we would always have choice, but that it was better to plan ahead, We were NEVER able to use any of our time, We made regular payments, and then our personal circumstances changed, and we tried to sell the property back, which at the beginning we were told was always available, We have used several companies paying them to help us remove ourselves from the commitment. We were lied to and tricked from the start. The booking offices told us repeatedly that the agents were sellers, that they didn't really know how the bookings worked. I am the one who made the calls. the one who got the runaround. The first company that tried to help us told us to stop paying, We stopped in 2020. We receive a monthly statement from them and have repeatedly asked to settle this. there is a constant turnover of staff and every time we called a new person was assigned, Resolution Sought We would like the business to refund us and pay for the extra cost and stress of having to hire outside help to get this situation resolved.
