Customer Complaint

On August 10, 2024, I booked a three-night stay at the Super 8 by Wyndham in Yucca Valley CA, paying with my Navy Federal Visa Debit Card as I always do when booking reservations. Upon arrival, my reservation was refused because, according to the Desk Clerk, it was a VISA Debit Card. Demanding a Credit Card (I do NOT use Credit as it is against my Firmly-held Religious Beliefs, and as a Naturalized U.S. Citizen, I cannot be compelleted into Third-party Contracts to which I do not wish to be a party). Cash was also offered and refused. Desk Clerk cancelled the reservation and demanded I go elsewhere. Though only inconvenienced by ninety miles, driving time, and the reage at their questionable and most likely Illegal business practices. If this is a standing Wyndham policy, how many other weary, stranded travelers have they or are they going to refuse accommodations, who made reservations. Resolution Sought Apology for inconvenience caused.

Our website clearly states our company policy requires credit card to check-in. Unfortunately, the customer didn't have one. Most hotels and even car rentals require a credit card now days to obtain service. We are simply applying our company policy. We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but this is company policy.

Customer Rebuttal

The question is whose 'Co Policy', a Super8/Wyndham Franchisee or Corp Super 8/Wyndham? I need to know who exactly I will be taking to Court here. It has already been established by Legal Precedent that businesses can NOT refuse Cash, as this one very definitely did as well as refusing a perfectly viable VISA which has been used countless times throughout the country with NO Issue. Perhaps if this were a Private Entity it would be a different story, but it is not. Corporations are Creations of the State & as such, must abide by Rules & Regulations as set by said State. If this were Rajesh's Hideaway, it may be a different story, but it's not. It operates under the guise of Super 8 by Wyndham, so if this is Super 8 or Wyndham Corp Policy, they WILL be included in the Complaint & each SHALL be notified of this Issue so it can hopefully be handled In House by their respective Legal Depts. I don't know how Booking.com got involved, but if this is how the Yucca Valley Super 8 by Wyndham and/or all other Super 8's are operating, it may not be in the Best Interests of Priceline et al to continue facilitating these Questionable Business Practices.
