Last week I visited Chevrolet of Swansboro and test drove a few used cars. I found a Subaru outback which I loved, but was the first dealership by and looked at. I quoted an extremely undervalued trade-in on my 2022 Honda Civic with 25,000 miles or less. I explained that the bottom line price was much to pay for the vehicle. As I began to leave the show room, the manager offered me a deal of $8000 cost plus my trade-in, which is a good price on both sides. I said I was going to look at a few other places. When I came back, they have refused the offer that was made to me and now I want to increase it by somewhere between $2000 and $3000. They keep calling me, refusing to honor their price, and I am extremely disappointed. I had a recent auto accident, not my fault. I subsequently have been hesitant about driving such a small car, and this outback would've been perfect for me. I do not understand how they can make an offer and then increase it when I was ready to purchase. Sadly, I do not have this in writing, as I am still stupidly, naïve that people live up to their words. I hope you gave me this opportunity to let people be warned about their practices Resolution Sought I would like to be able to purchase the vehicle at the price. The manager gave me in person of my trade-in plus $8000.

Company states; On 8/08 Ms. Chapman came in and was between a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and a 2021 Subaru Outback limited. Ms. Chapman liked the Outback more but was not in any hurry and was very upfront that she wanted to shop around. She made an unrealistic offer of $6500 total. When we offered it, it was $13,195 total. Then on 8/09 she called to see if there was any change on her side. She said looking at less costing unit of $3000 less in Greenville. Then we emailed again 8/13 and she said we were about $1300-$1500 too high from where she like to be. On 8/15 the customer again in a follow up email asked if we do $8000 + Trade. On 8/15 follow up email was we can't get there but would do $10,000 + her trade, which was taking $3195 off which is a lot and just trying to make an effort and earn Ms. Chapman's business. Then Ms. Chapman went on to say how she did not like our business or its practices and would shop elsewhere. I mentioned how we saved so much for her and that we have been very transparent and clear with multiple offers to her in writing, but never that we do her lowball offer, so she asked to not be contacted and would make a BBB complaint. The response is false. Before I left the dealership the Subaru was offered to me for $8000 plus my car by the sales manager. I said I would think it over and when I called to get it I was told that was impossible. The dealership need not worry as I will never look for a vehicle at any of their franchises.
