Purchased a whirlpool refrigerator on 07/10/24. Explained it was going in an RV. Was told warranty wouldn't be affected. Called for service and was told the warranty was voided. Extended warranty company can't find a service tech to come so I get a refund of the purchase. Only. I purchased during a 1,000 discount promotion. I don't want a refund I want the same refrigerator. Resolution Sought I want the same exact refrigerator or the same model from a different manufacturer without having to pay more

Company Response

With regards to this customer, we have have done everything possible to assist her from 7/01 until 8/23. She orignally called one of our Gainesville Home Derpots that referred to us as the selling store. When the customer purchased the french door refrigerator, our sales person told the customer he did not feel it would fit in the area or in the RV at the time. She told him she knew it would and set up delivery and purchased a 3-year extended warranty on 7/10/24 from online Home Depot, which was delivered to customer on 8/23/24. The refrigerator would not fit in the RV as we explained to her and she insisted they take the doors off to get the refrigerator in. They did and on 7/01 was the first time customer contacted our store for assistance. She said that the unit was not cooling properly and had called Maytag who would not service because the customer voided the 1 year warranty by removing the refrigerator doors. I contacted our extended warranty company several tgimes over this period for her service and for several reasons, either service provider did not show or when they did she went to work rather than wait for service. She continued to say that she did nothing wrong and wanted us to refund all her money, which we wer not doing. We even went to the extreme or contacting three local service providers to get them to fix and we would pay. No one would touch the refrigerator in an RV. After continual contacts with her, our management team agreed to refund her money with the stipulation that she purchase a refrigerator that is made for an RV. She was not happy with that, she wanted the same refrigerator at the same price she purchased a year ago. We are selling her that refrigerator or any refrigerator that is made for a home, not an RV and go through the same issues again. On top of all this, the customer was asked to leave the property she was living on and could not move with this refrigerator in her RV. We believe this was another reason for her asking for a refund and once moved to get another refrigerator. Our store did everything in it's power to help her, we feel no liability in this matter.
