We purchased our sweet puppy on March 1, 2018. My husband flew to Rhode Island to pick her up, to bring her back to Illinois. She developed bladder stones in January of 2020. She needed surgery, cost $3000.00. She had to be on a prescription diet for the rest of her short life. In April of 2021 she developed a cough and skin lesions. We took her to her vet and she was diagnosed with cancer. The vet gave her 2 days to two weeks to live. We did everything we could to keep her comfortable, cost $900.00. She lived 11 days. We had to put her down on May 1st, 2021. We are heartbroken. Everyone said get your dog from a breeder, not a pet store. Our first two dogs lived to 15 years, 4 months and 13 years. They were from a pet store. This one from a breeder and she lived 3 years 4 months. I still can't believe she is gone. Her vet said this should never have happened if there had been genetic testing. I don't believe this kennel does that. When I reach out to Pat, she said she was sorry and if we wanted another puppy she would give us a discount. No way would I ever get another dog from her. I just want people to be aware this could happen to them if they get a puppy from her. Don't buy from this kennel. Resolution Sought Do genetic testing and sell healthy dogs! We are out thousands of $$$ I am sure she will do nothing. Does she get her puppies from a puppy mill? This should be investigated.

After receiving the complaint, I spoke to my veterinarian, Dr. David Lambert, Danielson, CT and he explained that the bladder stones should have been detected with a urinary infection and you would see crystals or blood in the urine. It can be treated with special food like the complainant said in her complaint description. Also from my vet as far as the cancer: Were treats from China ever given to the dog? Any lawn chemicals applied to the yard? The food environment? Any smokers in the household? What type of cancer was it? There are numerous reasons why unfortunately this can happen to our pets. I'm very, very sorry this happened and I would never intentionally sell any puppies to anyone if I could foresee any problems like this.

Pat, there is nothing you can say that will make this any easier. We have three granddaughters under the age of 3-1/2, who come over looking for Ellie. How do we explain it to them? This is heart breaking. We all miss her so much. We only fed her Wellness Core dog food and treats. We tried to give her only the best. Once she had the bladder stone surgery, she was only on Hill's Science Diet prescription dog food and treats. Her bowls were always kept in the kitchen, never outside. Fresh water, that was kept in the refrigerator, that we had boiled prior to refrigerating. When the lawn was fertilized, we always kept her off the lawn for at least two days after it was rained in. She was always on a leash, as we do not have a fenced in yard. No smokers at all in the house. Her cancer was lymphoma. I believe you need to do genetic testing, as our vet said. A three year old dog should not get cancer. She deserved a long life being raised with our granddaughters, playing and having fun! Our first two dogs came from Petland, and they lived over 15 years and 13 years. Petland is now bad, breeders are now bad. Where are we supposed to get a healthy puppy?
