I recently purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe from an individual that was in immaculate condition. 3 wks after purchase suddenly with no indication it broke down on me. I had towed to my regular shop where I was told the motor locked up. He said by looking at the vehicle everything was taken care of. I have all proof from previous owner of regular upkeep and maintained. So there was no reason for this. My mechanic told me to contact Hyundai corporate office because the motors on that particular vehicle were recalled. I contacted corporate and the person on the phone asked me all info on vehicle including vin and mileage. After looking up vehicle they did say that that motor is under warranty due to motor problems on that particular one and there's also recalls but in order for me to get it fixed I would have to have it fixed at a Hyundai dealership. I had it towed to a dealership then to get it fixed. I stayed in contact with them and after a couple days they said I couldn't get recalls or warranty due to mileage. But I could pay $8,000 to fix it. Since the car was taken care of so well it took longer for their faulty motor to go out. I contacted corporate again and spoke with Tanner which said basically there's nothing he can do. So I contact a tow service to get it and called Tulsa Hyundai to inform them that a tow truck was coming and then I'm told the tow truck can't get it until I pay almost $200 for the diagnosis. I was never informed of this. It was diagnosed before it came Resolution Sought Replace the motor that they knew was faulty. I'm being penalized because this vehicle took longer to go out than every other one due to it being taken care of. Also the money I had to spend saying they diagnosed it when it was diagnosed coming in and their company said it had a warranty on it and would be covered. Plus never making me aware of any charge until tow truck there to get it. This has been an ongoing issue with Hyundai after looking into it after this happened to me..
