I took my 2013 Toyota Tacoma to the Umansky Toyota dealership in Charlottesville, Virginia. I told the service representative at the front that I was hearing a squeaking sound in the front and thought it might be the AC compressor. The service advisor assured me that they would look at it and see what was going on with it. About an hour later, the service advisor called me back. He said that my AC compressor needed to be replaced, and that would cost me close to $3,000. I told them I wanted to get a second opinion, so I paid them the $90 diagnostics fee. I then took my vehicle to another garage here in Charlottesville, Virginia. After the inspection of the engine, the mechanic tells me I don't need to replace the AC compressor. All I need to replace is the belt tensioner which would be $100-$200 to replace. I then had the mechanic replace the part and I had no further issues with my vehicle after that. I then called Umansky Toyota and told them they misdiagnosed my vehicle, and they were going to charge me, thousands of dollars for a part I didn't need. They refused to give me any type of refund for the incorrect diagnostics fee, and they stood by their "Toyota certified technician." Resolution Sought Refund of the diagnostics fee.
