After Whisper's first year of care on this earth, managed by VCA Healthy Paws, Whisper is now nearly blind from the negligence and misdiagnosis of the Healthy Paws Team. In early January of 2022, Whisper had a routine visit for her ears and while there we explained that in the last week or so, she has been rubbing her eyes on anything she can find. The Healthy Paws Team gladly accommodated our request and examined her face and eyes. The diagnosis was itchy skin due to being a pale skinned specialty breed. Suggested treatment was anti-itch / allergy injection, once every three months. We agreed to the injection. No cultures were taken to improve diagnostics. One week later, Whisper was in the ER at VCA Animal Emergency Critical Care under the care of DVM Erika Friedrich, with diagnosis of acute eye infections, a right torn cornea and left ruptured cornea, both a result of aggressive bacterial infection eating holes in her eyes. In gathering history, the DVM asked multiple times if any cultures had been previously taken. We answered truthfully, no. DVM Friedrick and the staff gave amazing care to Whisper and arranged emergency care. Later that evening, emergency surgery was performed by Veterinary Referral Associates, DVM William Crumley to graft the left eye, preventing further loss of the eye lens. Postoperative meds on a three hour cadence and bi-weekly check ups continue to this day. Resolution Sought For them to give me a refund of the medical cost of the 2 surgeries and termination of the contract with out any penalties, after VCA Healthy Paws miss diagnosis, malpractice and negligent on my 10 months poppy.
