I told the salesman in the electronic area I was in a hurry but I needed to buy an inexpensive phone. He told me I could get the phone for $8 and that's all I had to pay for the first month. After that it would be $65 a month if I didn't use an ACP payment plan. He didn't mention an activation fee of $35 and I didn't know that the bill was due 8 days after the purchase. I went back to the store twice and told them I wanted to return the phone, each time they told me that I would not have any problems with this system. Neither time did they offer to go over the contract with me. I was Not given a copy of the contract. So I went to the Verizon store to change my phone number and was going to pay my bill. The machine that you pay the bill on at the store told me I owed $236 and I freaked out. I went straight to the Walmart store and he told me that if I didn't have the box and receipt they would not take it back. Before he had told me I only had 11 days to bring it back. So after 11 days I threw the box and receipt away. The salesman was at the Lancaster Walmart, he is chubby and has real curly hair. Resolution Sought 1) Don't ask customer if they want a copy of the contract give them a copy. 2) Don't tell customers they have 11 days to return the phone if they really have 30 days. 3) Go over all charges for monthly payments. 4) Don't tell customers that they get a month free if the bill is due less than 29 days later. 5) Don't let the customer think the phone is free if you really have to pay a monthly fee. 6) In my case I would like them to pay the Verizon bill or give me a free phone prepaid phone
