Misled from start - bounced from attny to attny, charged extra w/o notice- lawyer in court had severe concussion -overbilled
Dealing with ex who stopped paying alimony for months..told it was pretty cut and dry..even had proof ex was lying about his condition..and they knew up front I had taken a loan from work and was desperately struggling because I had tried to work it out with ex..I was told right up front'NO..he can't do that..and judges hate when people take matters into own hands'. Was NEVER once told there was no enforcement other than wage attachment (he is currently appealing his declined SSD)..during the process I had to continually asked deadlines be used because funds were so limited..this should NOT have taken months to try to resolve...the night before court my lawyer said he was 'had some ways to enforce' the tentative that was in my favor..felt so relieved because I told him loan was used up..he tells me the next morning of court then says no other way. that would have been nice to know BEFORE..like when I first walked in to make more informed decision! And he could have been honest and said YES..he can get away with this..we can go to court but know that legally? NO guarantee of any enforcement if you win..he knew the SSDI situation..During my time with Weinberger I was not informed TWICE my lawyer was out..first time with family issue that put everything on hold but..that was 2 weeks..I only found out because I wasn't hearing of any progress and called because I was getting anxious..finally after weeks he was back..again after a few more weeks? More silence..found out he was out again with concussion but they were going to 'turn me over' to another attorney since no idea when he'd be back..they NEVER stated she was 'more expensive' and are now billing me the additional even though none of this was my fault..after meeting with new lawyer the original lawyer went to court with me and I found out that morning he had been out FOUR weeks and was not allowed to be on his phone or computer, etc due to the severity of concussion! When we got into court (after him telling me my tentative which was in my favor rarely ever gets changed) he was completely and totally scattered in his thoughts (even my brother stated as such and said that we were totally 'outgunned').and YES..I DO BELIEVE HIS CONCUSSION AND ITS SEVERITY AFFECTED MY REPRESENTATION!!..he then stated to the judge that I would have been better off financially if my ex had DIED. (I had already told him ex was using every thing he could to make me look bad to my kids and I even changed paperwork to make sure it was not too inflammatory) He later sent me email about how he and the judge joked about that comment because even the judge couldn't believe he said that. That it sucked the 'air right out of the room'..now my kids are distant with me and I believe it's because of that statement getting back to them..WHO says that in a courtroom? Tentative was completely changed..still struggling and being billed HUGE bill with HUGE interest which is more than payment I can afford to pay. HORRIBLE representation
