Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We have reviewed the details you provided and researched the account history for your lease. Why Not Lease It is constantly striving to improve upon the customer experience, and this includes explaining the program in more detail. Briefly, our program requires lessees to lease their items for a 5-month initial lease term. Upon completion of the initial lease term our customers have 3 options. Such options include: (1) Purchasing the property by exercising the purchase option; (2) continuing the lease on a periodic basis by retaining possession of the property, in which case additional periodic payment(s) must be made in the same frequency and amount as during their initial term; (3) terminating the lease by returning the property to us in good condition, fair wear and tear excepted. If the lessee does not contact Why Not Lease It to set up the purchase or return of their leased items, their lease will continue the same schedule until they make arrangements to purchase the item or return the item. This means that if a customer doesn’t exercise their purchase or return options after the completion of their initial term, their lease will continue for another payment period. After the end of that period, customer will have the 3 options again. This process continues until a customer purchases their leased items, returns their leased items, or reaches their maximum lease term. Your lease with Why Not Lease It originated on 4/5/2015. On 7/16/2015, Why Not Lease It spoke with you regarding your lease terms and quoted a buyout price for the leased merchandise. From that day and forward, you chose not to exercise the buyout option. As a result, periodic payments for your lease continued. Our records indicate that this is a valid debt. As a result, your account was sent to a third party on 5/4/2016. After your account was sent to a third party, Why Not Lease It no longer made any attempts to contact your regarding your lease agreement. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, but you will need to reach out to the third party for resolution on your account.
