Went in because I was approved for a car. I never got the car. But they ran a hard credit report at least 4 times. Which it dropped my credit score but 80 points. At the time I was trying to refinance my home but since they ran the credit multiple times I was un able to refinance my home because of the drop of the credit score. So in all I still don't have a vehicle and can't refinance my home. I'm very upset about this. Resolution Sought That is the thing I could not refinance my home and I'm out of a car.

Company Response

9/26/2023

Company states: It is a regular occurrence for a dealer to send a customer's application to any and/or all banks that they may work with in order to try to get an approval at the customer's request. The applications send to WideRange all have to be checked in the I agree box, that states: "I agree that by submitting this application, I authorize and give this application to my consent to obtain my credit report from any credit reporting agency used to completed an investigation of my credit. By submitting this application, I certify that all information herein is true an complete. I agree that I am providing this information to the dealer identified by this application and acknowledge my information may be share pursuant to the dealers privacy policy if applicable. I hereby authorize this dealer, and any financial institution engaged as a service provider by this dealer, to retain this application and to check and verify my credit, employment and salary history. By submitting this application, I authorize this dealer and/or financial institutions, as they consider necessary and appropriate, to obtain consumer credit report on me periodically and to gather employment history in order to determine financing eligibility." The customer was in the office in person while filling out his application. WideRange only submitted this customers application to 2 financial institutions, not 4. One was a decline due to credit and/or collection issues that were a preexisting factor in determining this customer's credit decision. The approval was obtained to One Main Financial Group and this offer was presented to the customer. WideRange then notified her the next steps to be completed in the approval process. she then left the dealership as she did not have the requested paperwork on hand. WideRange never heard back from the customer. WideRange was then notified by One Main Financial Group that the customer had opted to "back out" of the deal and the deal was then closed. Upon research into this complaint, it was found that the customer had, at other dealerships, applied to one specific financial institution 7 different times. It is incorrect and illogical that WideRange would submit her application, without her knowledge, four times and for her credit to be affected by 80 points all in WideRange's attempt to help her get approved for financing. It is irresponsible and inaccurate for this blame to be directed at WideRange solely and for her to not take her own responsibility in her adverse credit decisions. In closing, WideRange would also like for this complaint to be notified and recorded that the first email communication from the customer was sent to WideRange on March 21, 2021 at 2208. Then she physically visited the dealership April 27, 2023 to shop for a vehicle and to willingly give WideRange her application with sensitive information such as employment, social security number and income. She also changed the vehicle she was interested in getting approved for because the first one was a decline due to the amount requested for financing. She was then notified that she would need a co-signer and that this application was also declined. This is when she requested that her credit application got sent again this time different circumstances in order to try to obtain an approval. Her application was sent in many times by other dealers adding to her credit score decline. WideRange has a signed Bill of Sale by this customer dated 4/27/2023 that was submitted to One Main Financial in accordance to her approval on the less expensive of the choices.
