~~Clinical trials or studies test potential treatments on human volunteers to see whether they should be approved for wider use in the general population. Treatment can consist of a drug medical device vaccine blood product or gene therapy. Clinical trials are an integral part of new product discovery and development. Before participating in any clinical trial potential volunteers should consider the risks that may be involved.~~Prior to agreeing to participate in a trial the facility researcher or physician should provide information required for informed consent. The information should discuss details about the study including its purpose duration required procedures and a point of contact should you need further information. The consent should also explain the risks and potential benefits. ~~Some treatments can have unpleasant or even serious side effects. These may be temporary or in some cases permanent. Some side effects may appear during treatment and others may not appear until after the study is over. All risks must be discussed prior to the trial beginning and if new risks develop during the trial participants must be informed.~~Always do your research. Check out the clinic or facility offering the trial. Obtain a reliability report from Business Consumer Alliance (“BCA”) and review any complaints and reviews for an idea of what to expect. If possible speak to others who have completed the trial. Always consult your physician before starting any new treatments or medications. If the trial includes compensation for participation keep records and make sure you are in compliance with the terms for compensation. If you do not receive compensation file a complaint with BCA. ~
